A Stoke-on-Trent based charity supporting the homeless has launched a fund-raising appeal on the back of the nationwide Christmas Jumper Day.
The Gingerbread Centre is asking people to don festive outfits on Friday, December 9, the day after Save the Children’s annual event.
Donations will go towards the Centre’s work in supporting homeless families from Stoke-on-Trent and the surrounding area.
Gingerbread will be looking after 33 families at its two accommodation blocks over Christmas, with 37 children being supported.
Demand for its services is at an all-time high, standing at two referrals per week.
“We look after the families in every way we can, and any donations will be gratefully received,” said Chris Belyavin, Fundraising Manager.
“We’re asking people to wear something festive on December 9 like a jumper, scarf or socks.
“They can collect cash donations and we will pick them up after the day, or they can donate using the QR code on our poster available online.
“If December 9 is not convenient then we are asking people to please choose another day that is and bring joy to families without a home this Christmas.”
The Gingerbread Centre is grateful for the support it receives from Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce as a charity member.
