Plea to help treat young carers at Christmas

1 min read

Donations are urgently being sought to help bring extra cheer to young carers this Christmas.

North Staffs Carers Association is looking for support to provide its young carers with a selection box.

The organisation, based in Fenton, supports unpaid carers in North Staffordshire, including many young people who help parents to care for a sibling or other parent within the same household.

Chief Executive Julie Hammersley said: “North Staffordshire has seen a huge rise in deprivation due to government cuts with generic factors, lifestyle choices, education, housing, employment and access to healthcare services all having a detrimental effect on young carers and their families.

“Young carers often have no reprieve from the pressures at home taking on the responsibilities often associated with an adult.

“Any help or support to provide our young carers with a selection box this Christmas would be greatly appreciated.”

Anyone who can help with donations of selection boxes should contact Julie, Anna Capper or Chelsie Hughes on 01782 793100.

Donations need to be received by Wednesday, 14th December in time for the young carers Christmas party.
