Tableware giant Steelite International is reporting “exceptional” demand and an urgent recruitment drive in the week when Wade Ceramics went into administration.
Steelite, which provides an unique range of Stoke-on-Trent-made ceramics, as well as glassware, cutlery and tabletop accessories to pubs, restaurants, hotels and cruise lines around the world, is also reaching out to help former Wade employees.
The 155-year-old business called in administrators after pressure from spiralling energy costs and losing a major customer earlier in the year.
Steelite Financial Director Jon Cameron said: “The loss of any pottery manufacturer in our local community is sad news, particularly at this time of year, and we want to help where we can. We have invited former Wade employees to a recruitment open day on Tuesday December 13.
“Steelite is recruiting to meet exceptional levels of orders and continue its recovery from the pandemic years.
“Our order book is high and plans that we made to progress the business and provide our customers with exemplary service and products in this highly competitive market place will be achieved.
“We have a number of vacancies and we’d like to invite all former Wade Ceramics staff to a recruitment open morning on Tuesday 13th December, 9:30-12:30
“Managers will be available to interview candidates and chat with them about the roles we have. This invitation goes out to factory and office staff from Wade.”
