Hundreds of households across Stoke-on-Trent are getting help with their fuel and food bills this winter.
Stoke-on-Trent City Council has distributed a further £300,000 to three organisations which are supporting families in need with fuel and food vouchers.
The funding has been shared between Beat the Cold, who received £150,000, and the Citizens Advice Bureau and Groundwork who both received £75,000.
This latest round of funding comes after Stoke-on-Trent City Council distributed over £2 million to voluntary and community groups after being allocated £2.7 million as part of the third round of the Government’s Household Support Fund.
This funding continues to support local residents with food, essentials and energy costs. It also forms part of the Stronger Together Through Winter Campaign which aims to help families and individuals navigate the cost of living crisis through the winter months.
Councillor Abi Brown, leader of Stoke-on-Trent City Council, said: “We are delighted to have been able to hand out this latest round of funding and are grateful to our partners for helping to deliver vital support to our residents in their time of need.
“We understand winter can be a challenging time for some and we hope that this support will help ease the financial burden a little when it comes to food and energy costs.
“Through our Stronger Together Through Winter campaign we have a substantial package of support available for residents across Stoke-on-Trent who may be facing hardship this winter.”
