Browns Distribution is preparing to move to new headquarters following a £9 million investment.
Two years after purchasing land just 300 metres away from its current base, the company plans to start transferring operations to its new facility next week.
The move has come following growth in recent years, partly down to an increase in freight volume and demand.
Around 10 jobs will be created initially, with more expected to follow as the company continues to expand.
Managing Director David Brown Jr said: “Browns has grown a lot in recent years. We’ve enjoyed growth of 20 to 23 per cent year-on-year for the past two years and are hoping to finish this financial year with a turnover of £22 to £23 million.
“The new headquarters will be vastly more efficient; provide much more distribution and warehousing capacity and we’ll be able to take on a lot more work. It also puts us on the right side of the railway line, giving us super-fast access to the road networks.
“With what has been going on in the marketplace and supply chain difficulties, it has been a challenge but we’re very excited to be making the transition.”
The family-run business has 137 employees and has been based at the Ravensdale facility, on Ladywell Road, in Tunstall, since the 1960s.
Its new site is an acre-and-a-half bigger than the old one, provides 75,000 square foot high bay warehousing as well as new office space, enhanced staff training facilities and almost double the number of current parking spaces.
The transition to Chemical Lane East is expected to take around four weeks.
