Staffordshire University is hosting an Apprenticeship Fair to celebrate National Apprenticeship Week 2023

The event, on Saturday 4 February, will give school and college students along with their families the chance to learn more about apprenticeship opportunities in the region.

Visitors to The Catalyst Building, the venue for the fair at the University’s Stoke-on-Trent campus, will be able to view stands showcasing schemes offered by a wide variety of employers.

Exhibitors will include Staffordshire Police, West Midlands Police, Rolls-Royce, Capula, Promtek and University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust.

Also present will be regional training providers Stoke on Trent College, Acorn Training and Buxton & Leek College

The family-friendly event, which runs from 9am to 3pm, will also feature arts, crafts and food stalls.

Maighread Hegarty, Associate Dean of Apprenticeships, said: “Apprenticeships are a fantastic route for anyone aged over 16 to gain on-the-job training while working towards a nationally recognised qualification. This allows you to ‘earn while you learn’ and opens doors to a range of career opportunities.

“In turn, employers develop a workforce of professionals equipped with skills for the future which has a positive impact on the whole region.

“Whether you are a school leaver or looking for a career change, our Apprenticeship Fair will be a great day out for the family while showcasing the wide range of apprenticeships on offer here in Staffordshire.”

Towards the end of National Apprenticeship Week, the University is staging an Apprenticeship Conference on Friday 10 February.

Also being held at The Catalyst between 9am and 12 midday, the proceedings will include a panel discussion highlighting the key roles within a successful apprenticeship.

Hosted by Maighread Hegarty, the event conference will feature a keynote speech by the Association of Apprentices’ Chief Technology Officer David Barker discussing the future of the association and apprenticeships.

Entry to both events is free, with free car parking.
