Valentine Clays Managing Director Hannah Ault has been named Vice President of the British Ceramic Confederation (BCC) – the first woman to hold the role.

She will take up her new role on the board of directors in June when the current holder of the position – Dr Allen McLelland, Vice President of Technology at Morgan Advanced Materials – steps into the BCC President role.

Hannah said: “I really feel honoured to be asked to take on this role and become the first woman VP too. It is an indication of how our great industry is moving forward.”

The BCC represents all sectors of UK ceramics manufacturing and aims to safeguard the prosperity of members. The current Chief Executive is Rob Flello, former Stoke-on-Trent South MP.

In recent weeks the BCC had lobbied the government for more clarification over energy support for businesses in the ceramics sector, who tend to be high intensity users of energy.
