Daily Focus press launch attracts praise from Staffordshire’s top journalists and PR pros

Journalists and marketing professionals gathered at the QUARTER at Potbank yesterday for the highly-anticipated press launch of Daily Focus.

The event was attended by a diverse range of professionals from the world of journalism and PR including editors, reporters, marketers and public relations specialists – who heard from a lineup of guest speakers while enjoying some open networking.

The Daily Focus team also exclusively revealed that the news publication has now hit 10,000 business subscribers.

Daily Focus is a joint venture between Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce and creative agency i-creation, whose team of journalists help to make the content.

Speaking at the event, Staffordshire Chambers CEO, Sara Williams OBE, said: “For almost 10 years I have had the privilege to help thousands of businesses across Staffordshire, and even now I am still awestruck by the scale, ingenuity, creativity and breadth of the products and services being offered and produced right on our doorstep. During this time, I have also witnessed the dramatic change in the media landscape of Staffordshire, which has led to many of those amazing business stories still waiting to be told.

“That is why we wanted to host an event for the marketing, PR and business development professionals – our business storytellers in Staffordshire.

“Our members know that a Chamber of Commerce is not just there to offer advice and support. We offer many, many services to enable local businesses to be successful, ethical and effective. The launch of our own business news service aims to strengthen our position as the voice of business within Staffordshire.”

Nigel Pye, Head of Creative at i-creation, added: “I would like to thank everyone who attended our official Daily Focus press and PR launch event.

“It was terrific to receive so many positive comments about the business news service we provide in partnership with Staffordshire Chambers.

“I have to admit to having a lump in my throat when Richard Bowyer delivered his terrific speech about the changing face of journalism. The regional picture has been so decimated and I know many friends and colleagues who have been so badly affected.

“Daily Focus can play its part in filling the gaping hole and provide a news service Staffordshire businesses deserve.”
