Enterprise centre plans could bring new jobs

A small enterprise centre could be created in the place of a partially dilapidated garage and workshop in Stoke-on-Trent.

Plans submitted for the site off King Street, in Longton, propose the demolition of currently empty buildings and the creation of 10 new units housed across four buildings.

They have been drawn up by Oxford-based property solutions firm Asset Max, which owns the site and the petrol station which sits in front of it. The petrol station will not be affected.

Director Tariq Khuja said: “The site was once a scaffolding storage place and a motor mechanics.

“We previously had planning consent for residential use there but we found that didn’t stack up financially.

“We now envisage a small enterprise centre, appealing to a variety of business sectors and hopefully creating several jobs.

“The way we have designed it, means construction can be done quickly. We hope to start work within three to six months of permission being granted and to have completion within nine to 12 months.”

The scheme is subject to planning permission being granted by Stoke-on-Trent City Council.
