Local artist creates coronation jigsaw for Stafford start-up

1 min read

Stafford-based Great British Jigsaws has teamed up with a local artist to create a puzzle to celebrate King Charles III’s coronation.

The 1,000-piece jigsaw has been designed by Stone-based artist and illustrator Emma Joustra, who is renowned in the local area for her unique and colourful art installations in three North Staffordshire hospitals and many schools and businesses.

It features King Charles and the Queen Consort standing against a backdrop of The Mall and Buckingham Palace, with well-wishers, London landmarks and the Red Arrows.

The puzzle, above, has been made in Staffordshire by Great British Jigsaws, which was formed in March 2020 by husband and wife team Jason and Kathy Cornish.

The pair and their team manufacture jigsaws using a unique print system, which allows for short run production with the feel of a traditionally mass produced litho-printed jigsaw.

Their coronation celebration jigsaw is made with a 100 per cent recycled puzzle board and will be available as a special edition from Monday, 13 March.

Kathy said: “Jigsaws have been growing in popularity in recent years, because they’re mindful, and an investment in time and self-care.

“We’ve worked a long time to make our jigsaws the best they can be and after seeing jubilee-mania hit the country we expect this coronation puzzle to also prove a hit.

“Working with Emma Joustra is a dream, the artwork is fantastic, she’s done a lot of research to make sure it’s as reflective of the King and his passions as possible. We’re so proud of this jigsaw!”
