FEASTED‘s team’s recipe for supporting the local community means using their kindness and passion for The Potteries to help other people.
That means teaching young people, each with their own challenges and difficulties, to learn to make great food… and the sense of achievement and fun they radiate is completely infectious.
Phoenix, 19, from Clayton, was struggling to find work and settle in employment due to neuro diversity. They have grown significantly in confidence after finding the FEASTED kitchen a great place where they can be themselves, make mistakes and develop cookery skills.
Phoenix said: “During my time at FEASTED, I have developed my kitchen skill immensely. I now have the skills to get in the kitchen and cook great food.
“Along with these kitchen skills I have gained a lot of confidence, in the kitchen and out of the kitchen. Cris and the team have inspired me to never give up and keep being myself.’
All this is why community-minded businesses and support organisations alike have committed to support the FEASTED mission.
Leading engineering business KMF, and influential charity The Hubb Foundation have thrown their backing behind the Opposites Attract event which takes place at the North Staffordshire Medical Institute in Hartshill on April 23.
KMF Group Managing Director Gareth Higgins MBE said: “KMF are delighted to be supporting Cris and the FEASTED team at an event that promotes exciting opportunities for young people.
“Raising the aspirations of young people is crucial to the success of our City, but ultimately, they need the opportunities to flourish.”
Hubb Foundation Chief Operating Officer Adam Yates added: “We are delighted to be working with Cris and his team at FEASTED to offer support, guidance and education to children and families in our city.
“Cris has a wealth of knowledge and real character and FEASTED mirror our values as a charity dedicated to raising aspirations in Stoke-on-Trent.”
