Accountancy group DJH Mitten Clarke has invested £200,000 to refit historic offices in the heart of Manchester’s business district, creating space to grow a 40-strong team in the city.
The Top 50 accountancy practice, which has its headquarters in Stoke-on-Trent, transformed a suite of offices in St George’s House following a decision to relocate its growing Manchester-based team.
Built in 1911 for the YMCA, St George’s House, Peter Street, is a landmark building on the Manchester street scene. It was the first concrete building in Manchester and was constructed on the site of the 1817 Peterloo Massacre.
DJH Mitten Clarke acquired Manchester practice Lloyd Piggott two years ago and have now relocated its team to the sixth floor of St George’s House as part of a plan for growth.
Scott Heath, Chief Executive, at DJH Mitten Clarke, said: “The environment our team work in is extremely important. Historically as a Group, we’ve always prioritised investing in the space and technology of our offices and, we’ve redoubled our efforts following Covid.
“The expectation on office space has changed dramatically, so it was key that we made sure the needs of our team. Infact, we’ve gone above and beyond expectations in designing our new workspace.
“The design in Manchester has the same feel to our other offices, providing a great light and contemporary break-away space for lunch, team socials and client events.”
DJH Mitten Clarke’s Manchester team are led by Executive Director, Sue Redmond, who said: “We now have a really welcoming space for everybody who walks through the door.
“We’ve already had really positive feedback from clients, and we’re proud to have created a space that fits with the expectations of a city centre office.”
The refurb follows a busy couple of months for the Group with the acquisition of Leeds based accountancy firm Novis and Co, who recently took on the DJH Mitten Clarke name.
