Two businesses took to the go-karting track to raise money for and awareness of a local mental health charity.
Representatives from Stoke-on-Trent’s Synectics Solutions and building contractors D.Bickerton Ltd, from Werrington, got behind the wheel for a fundraiser in aid of North Staffs Mind.
The race over 30 laps, held at the TeamSport Indoor go-karting arena in Stoke-on-Trent, raised around £400.
Dennis Martin, from data management company Synectics Solutions, took the win whilst colleague Mike Dabbs came in second. Owen Hopewell, representing D. Bickerton Ltd, finished third.
Event organiser Steve Channon, from the Stoke-on-Trent-based charity, said: “There was a David and Goliath feel to the event with a global conglomerate taking on a local building firm but I think everyone had fun.
“We are a self-funded organisation, and the support of the business community is vital to us.
“We have a lot of other exciting events coming up over the the next 12 months and are always grateful for volunteers. We always make sure volunteering with us is great fun.”
Mental health is being thrown into the spotlight this week with Mental Health Awareness Week focussing on anxiety.
North Staffs Mind helps both young people and adults through a range of services and has been holding all day drop-in sessions at its Mind Megastore in Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, all week.
