Staffordshire businesses donate welfare van to Men Unite after being inspired by mental health support

Stoke-on-Trent-based businesses Afford Rent-a-Car and sister company Welfare Vans 4 Less have joined forces to provide a welfare van for a local charity after it supported a number of their staff members.

Men Unite, a dedicated men’s mental health organisation, are now able to operate a welfare van that serves as a crucial hub for individuals struggling with their mental well-being.

Ryan Gratton, Director of Afford Rent-a-Car, said: “We were first approached by Ron and Craig for sponsorship at Hanley Town Football Club. During the meeting we had a heartfelt discussion around Men Unite Charity whilst sat in the Men Unite hub located within the football ground.

“Listening to both Ron’s and Craig’s personal backgrounds inspired me and I was keen to support a great charity that supports men in Stoke-on-Trent.

“Afford Rent-a-Car and Welfare Vans 4 Less invested money for a two-season sponsorship deal with the football club, but I still felt like that wasn’t enough. We then donated a welfare van free of charge for the charity to go out and help various men around the city.

“I myself have personally used the charity which was incredible, and we also donated support for one of our drivers during a hard time of his own. We will continually support the charity and the club.”

The welfare van will play a vital role in expanding Men Unite’s reach and impact by providing a safe and supportive environment for men to share their struggles and seek help.
