The Shake Shak: New specialist milkshake bar with over 30 flavours to choose from aims to put Stafford on the map

A family-run business has undergone a revamp and is expanding its offering in a bid to make Stafford town centre a destination for sweet treats and desserts.

The Milk Bar has been open on Mill Street for just over 18 months, featuring vending machines where customers can purchase local, fresh milk and milkshakes as well as a counter serving ice creams.

Following the redevelopment, the unit has been split in two with The Milk Bar operations taking part, and The Shake Shak set to open at the back providing thick, speciality shakes and other treats.

There will be over 25 different chocolate bars to choose from as bases for the new milkshakes, plus a variety of biscuits.

Customers will be able to taste their new delights when The Shake Shak opens tomorrow Saturday, 20 May.

A special discount has been offered to any Daily Focus readers who visit on the launch day.

Owner Suzie Waterfall, who runs the business with husband Chris, said: “As the county town, Stafford has a lot of potential.

“Our products are very good value for money and this new part of our business takes milkshakes to another dimension so we’re hoping it will help to increase footfall and turn Stafford into somewhere people will travel to for such treats.”

She added: “The Shake Shak menu has been designed by ourselves and is a very different offering.

“These will be thick, indulgent shakes based around branded chocolate bars and biscuits such as Oreo, Kinder, Twix and Lotus Biscoff. There will be something for everyone.”

Suzie and Chris are former dairy farmers from Beeches Farm in Seighford, near Stafford, who diversified into milk vending.

Their business, The Milk Stop, which The Milk Bar is part of, offers fresh cow and buffalo milk from local, partner farms that can be bought on its own or with flavours to turn it into milkshake.

From tomorrow, The Milk Bar will operate on a self-serve basis from 8am until early evening every day.

The Shake Shak will be open Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 12pm until 5pm during the summer months.

Both parts of the business use locally-sourced suppliers wherever possible, with chocolates being provided by Stafford’s Cocoa Creations and savoury goods from The Wissage Bakehouse, which opened in Aston, near Stafford, recently as reported in Daily Focus.

Ice cream comes from Red Lion Farm in Haughton and other treats are made by suppliers in Newport, where Suzie and Chris have another milk vending station.

They also operate a vending site at The Hollybush pub in Seighford.
