St Modwen Logistics has been given the green light for a 1.2million sq ft multi-phase logistics development in Staffordshire.
The development called St Modwen Park Meaford, which is located next to the M6 near to Stoke-on-Trent, has been granted outline planning consent by Stafford Borough Council.
It will aim to address what St Modwen describe as a critical undersupply of modern, sustainable logistics space in the UK that is currently holding back economic growth.
And once fully developed it could support hundreds of jobs across a range of employment types.
The decision has been welcomed by local business leaders who described the move as a potential “shot in the arm” for the local economy.
St Modwen Park Meaford is situated between junction 14 and 15 of the M6. It spans an 85-acre site and the first phase of development consists of two units totalling 120,000 sq ft.
The remaining space will be delivered speculatively on a build-to-suit basis, with up to 450,000 sq ft available for bespoke buildings.
Meanwhile, St. Modwen Logistics has also secured detailed planning consent for the redevelopment of Trident Business Park in Warrington, where it will replace existing outdated units with two modern sustainable warehouse units totalling 130,000 sq ft set within landscaped green space.

“Freight is the source of huge numbers of jobs in Staffordshire already, with people working in sectors such as logistics, the automotive industries, food production and serving the businesses importing and exporting goods by air and sea.
“The Meaford site is a prime location, just off the A34 and sandwiched between junctions 14 and 15 of the M6. We hope the development will be a further shot in the arm for the local economy, with jobs and prosperity across our region.”
