The owner of a popular café admired for its home-made cakes is opening a new venture this weekend.
Emma Steele has recently celebrated the first birthday of The Cake Shack, set up at Cudmore Fisheries, in Whitmore, near Newcastle-under-Lyme.
But on Saturday, 1 July, she will launch The Little Cake Shack in nearby Silverdale, which will run on a similar basis serving drinks, home-baked cakes, breakfasts and lunches.
“The Cake Shack has grown so quickly and gets so busy that it’s hard for me to bake there,” Emma said. “The Little Cake Shack will give me somewhere to bake properly as well as being a small café and provide takeaways.”
Emma, who has previously run another cake business, has moved in to what used to be The Pit Stop, on The Parade.
She has taken on a full-time baker to help her with the demand of running two cafés, has upped the hours of one of her other members of staff and hopes to take on more employees as the business grows.
Part of her work also involves making celebration cakes, which will also now be made from Silverdale.
And plans for the new business include the introduction of themed dessert nights.
Emma added: “The new place is very similar to the current one, which is popular with a wide range of people.
“It has a bright, homely feel and we hope everyone will enjoy visiting for cakes, breakfasts and lunches.
“Lots of people have been excited for us to open and have been popping in whilst we’ve been working on it to ask when we will open.”
- The Little Cake Shack opens at 10am on Saturday 1 July. It will start off serving drinks and cakes until Tuesday when the full breakfast and lunch menu is launched.
