A luxury cottage rental agency with a presence in Staffordshire has received an accolade at the Midlands StartUp Awards

Luxury Cottages, founded in 2019, won the title of best Staffordshire StartUp.

The business was set up to match discerning travellers with the best selection of luxury cottages to rent.

With a headquarters in Birmingham and local luxury experts based across the UK, Luxury Cottages has team members – formerly office-based in Keele – working from home in Staffordshire.

Recently backed by the Midlands Engine Investment Fund to the tune of £500,000, the company prides itself on using a bespoke service to handpick getaways.

Chief Executive Officer Alistair Malins said: “As a startup, we’re excited that Luxury Cottages has already begun to make a splash in the UK travel industry and we’re happy to be recognised for this award.

“Over the last three years, the travel market has been challenging due to Covid-19 and multiple lockdowns, but we’ve built a strong brand positioning and our excellent customer service and tailored offering sets us apart from other UK holiday agencies.

“We pride ourselves on offering not only the most unique properties countrywide, but a personalised service approach which enhances the entire experience for both the property owner and the holidaying customer.

“With our focus on the premium end of the market, we’re already seeing high demand for UK staycations, with people opting to holiday in their home country instead of abroad, and with a forecast spend of £25.9 million in 2023, figures have now risen above levels last seen pre-pandemic.

“We’re excited by the future of Luxury Cottages and believe UK stays will only increase in popularity.”

Established in 2022, the StartUp Awards highlight the success of new businesses across 10 UK nations and regions and celebrates the achievements of entrepreneurs in all sectors of the economy.

The Midlands final was held at The Custard Factory in Birmingham and saw 30 different awards given out to new businesses.
