The co-founder of a pioneering Staffordshire business received a glowing reference “out of the blue” when she was at Buckingham Palace for a reception for receiving the King’s Award for Enterprise in the Innovation category.
Eve Davies, Communications Director of ProtectaPet which helps protect domestic cats from danger, was talking to Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh and telling him about her company’s products.
Suddenly, Jess Warneken of Naturaw Pet Food, who was also collecting a King’s Award, joined the conversation and revealed she was delighted to have bought fencing from ProtectaPet to keep her two cats safe after one of her felines broke his pelvis in a road traffic accident.
“My jaw hit the floor because I couldn’t have written up a more amazing testimonial for our product in front of royalty!” said Eve, pictured above in conversation with the Duke of Edinburgh.
“It wouldn’t have stood me in great stead for me to explain the merits of our own idea. For a customer to be stood next to me at that time, explaining how much it changed their lives– that was incredible.”
Eve went on to meet King Charles III himself, who was interested to learn about the positive environmental impact of ProtectaPet, telling her to “keep up the good work.”.
The international Newcastle-under-Lyme-based company, founded in 2014 by Eve and Simon Davies, offers revolutionary preventative cat care which enables cats to access a safe, outdoor territory and cat owners to experience total peace of mind.
ProtectaPet Limited will be presented with the official crystal trophy and Grant of Appointment this autumn by The King’s representative, Ian Dudson, the Lord-Lieutenant of Staffordshire.
Also at the Buckingham Palace reception was Sara Williams CEO of Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce, which has received the first-ever King’s Award for Enterprise for Promoting Opportunity through social mobility, as reported by Daily Focus here.
