Tamworth Borough Council has launched a new grant scheme to help support growth of businesses in the town centre.

The Tamworth Town Centre ‘Tell Your Story’ Business Grant is offering funding of between £500 and £7,000 to new and existing businesses.

The grants are aimed at helping small businesses develop engagement with new customers. The council, using funds from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, has allocated up to £21,000 for eligible businesses for this financial year.

The scheme operates on a match-funded basis to help deliver a greater economic impact to more town centre businesses.

  • Employ fewer than 250 employees and be considered an independent, small to medium sized company
  • Registered with HMRS or as a registered company
  • Attend one of three upcoming workshops; completing either a morning, afternoon or full day session

The workshops will take place at Tamworth Enterprise Centre, on Corporation Street, and be delivered in partnership with business support provider Digital Islands

Councillor Paul Turner, Leader of Tamworth Borough Council, pictured above, said: “We know many businesses, shops and restaurants are working under very different conditions with the cost-of-living crisis and inflation. Therefore, we really want to reach out and offer additional business support.

“We believe that these workshops and funds can go a long way in helping businesses market their USP, build their brand recognition, upgrade their digital support and drive their business growth.”

Nine town centre businesses received grants of £2,500 in the council’s last funding allocation, as reported in Daily Focus

All applications for the new grants must be submitted by 14 August at 2pm.
