A Staffordshire-based energy technology company is partnering with an energy provider to help consumers cut their bills.
Energy storage firm GivEnergy, whose HQ is in Newcastle-under-Lyme, has joined with renewable energy company Octopus Energy to introduce a new smart tariff.
The Intelligent Octopus Flux tariff, which offers more than £450 of savings per year for consumers, capitalises on the joint benefits of solar power and battery storage.
The new tariff works by allowing customers to make the most of cheap, off-peak energy rates.
Octopus Energy provides smart tariffs that offer cheap pricing whenever clean energy is flowing through the wires (such as through the night).
Customers with a GivEnergy battery system can store the excess energy generated from their solar panels for later use in the evenings.
With the new smart tariff, the GivEnergy home battery will charge and discharge intelligently. Using a direct Application Programming Interface (API) link to Octopus and energy prices, the system will automatically take advantage of the best rates.
