Plans have been drawn up to create 17 new commercial units on a former allotment site in Stoke-on-Trent.

The site on Brocksford Street in Fenton has been vacant for a number of years but was purchased by applicant Mohammed Ali in 2012.

Documents submitted to Stoke-on-Trent City Council with the planning application state the applicant owns an existing commercial estate on nearby King Street and it is his intention to relocate the tenants of those units, which currently include a printing company, a car wrapping company and a car upholstery repair and fitter, to this site.

This would then enable the applicant to redevelop that site to potentially provide a residential development.

If plans are passed, the units would incorporate a mix of light industrial, general industrial and storage and distribution uses.

More than 36 new jobs are expected to be created.

A planning statement reads: “The proposed development would deliver economic development in the form of small starter units in a sustainable location which would complement the mixed-use character of the immediate surrounding area and deliver a significant amount of job creation opportunities.”
