Staffordshire’s newest Aldi store will open in Cannock next month, with local charities being encouraged to come forward as partners.

The new supermarket on Orbital Retail Park will begin welcoming shoppers at 8am on Thursday 12 October, with the ribbon being cut by ParalympicsGB bronze medallist Lee Manning.

The Voyager Drive store has created 38 jobs and plans to help the local community further by giving out surplus food and perishable products, such as fruit, vegetables and baked goods to local good causes who register with community engagement platform Neighbourly

Aldi Store Manager Dave Webster said: “We can’t wait to open the doors to the new store in Cannock.

“It’s set to be a special day, and having Paralympics hero Lee Manning join us will make it a morning to remember.”

Wheelchair basketball star Lee will be in attendance as part of a partnership between Aldi and ParalympicsGB.

As well as cutting the ribbon to officially open the store, he will also give away complimentary bags of fresh fruit and vegetables from Aldi’s Super 6 range to the first 30 customers in the queue.

Lee said: “I’m so excited to be opening Aldi’s new store; it will be great to chat to customers and a lovely way for me to thank Aldi for its support of ParalympicsGB.”
