Teams from across the business community raised £2,700 at a charity golf day organised by Leek Building Society.
The event at Westwood Golf Club, in Leek, was held to raise funds for the organisation’s charitable foundation, which is dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of vulnerable and disadvantaged people locally.
Sixteen teams of four took part, with local businesses such as Leek’s Brian Mellor Financial Services, PHD Mail from Burton-upon-Trent, and Hanley-based Mounsey Chartered Surveyors being represented.
The Society, Cheddleton’s Ashcombe Cricket Club, Leek Town Football Club and Westwood Golf Club also entered teams. Spiral Colour, from Macclesfield, were the overall winners.
Support from other organisations included photography provided by Stoke-based creative content agency i-creation.
Rob Longmore, HR Director at Leek Building Society, said: “We’re overwhelmed by the support and generosity shown by our contacts and local businesses that have helped us to raise such a tremendous amount for our Charitable Foundation.
“I’d also like to offer our thanks to the team at Westwood Golf Club for the use of their excellent facilities and helping us to host such an enjoyable day.”
Valerie Shaw, from the golf club, said: “It was a privilege for us to not only be part of the Leek’s Golf Day, but to have had the Society use our facilities for their successful fundraising event during our centenary.
“What a wonderful achievement and great testament to Leek Building Society’s service to the local community.”
