An innovative partnership has been set up between City of Stoke-on-Trent Sixth Form College and Stoke City Community Trust aimed at promoting and developing competitive female football within the local community.
Inspired by the monumental success of the Lionesses at the 2023 Women’s World Cup, they are aiming to cultivate and champion the next generation of female football stars.
The collaboration will provide aspiring young women, aged 16-19, who are studying at the College with the opportunity to participate in high-quality football training and competitive matches, regardless of their chosen field of study.
Traditionally, opportunities for young women to engage in competitive football have often been limited, especially if they pursued academic or vocational courses not directly related to sports.
Recognising the importance of inclusivity and equal opportunities, the College and the Trust have joined forces to bridge this gap and offer aspiring female footballers the chance to pursue their passion while excelling in their chosen academic disciplines.
Female students enrolled on any course at the Sixth Form College will have the opportunity to access professional coaching, state-of-the-art facilities, and regular training sessions designed to enhance their skills and performance on the field.
Stoke City Community Trust’s experienced coaches will provide expert guidance and support, helping the young athletes develop both individually and as part of a team.

“Our aim is to create an environment where young women can thrive academically while pursuing their passion for football. By opening the doors to competitive female football, irrespective of their chosen course, we hope to inspire and empower our students to excel both on and off the pitch.”
