Manufacturers from across Staffordshire celebrated this year’s National Manufacturing Day by attending the county’s biggest-ever sector networking event.

Over 100 businesses attended the inaugural Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce Manufacturers’ Dinner, which took place last night in the 1907 Suite at Uttoxeter Racecourse.

Launched last year, National Manufacturing Day encourages businesses to open their doors to local communities, companies, media and the public – giving people an exciting insight into the world of manufacturing and creating new opportunities for growth.

The dinner, sponsored by Midlands Power Networks and Michelin, was one of two events hosted by Staffordshire Chamber on the day, with businesses invited to the HEX Group’s HQ in the morning for an exclusive tour and networking session.

Tom Nadin, Head of Projects and Business Services at Staffordshire Chambers, said: “We had a fantastic time at the inaugural Staffordshire Manufacturers’ Dinner which united businesses in the manufacturing, ceramics and engineering sectors for a unique networking opportunity.

“The audience heard from some fantastic guest speakers, including Michelin Tyre MD John Howe, Vickie Milligan, MD of Cottage Delight, and the HEX Group CEO, Martin Smith, who all gave fantastic talks on their experiences within the sector.

“We would also like to thank the HEX Group for hosting us in the morning and showing us around their brilliant facilities.

“Both events made for a fantastic celebration of the achievements of manufacturers that helped to strengthen the bonds within the sector and pave the way for future collaboration and growth.”
