When a major health scare threatened his life, HR specialist Richard Tunnicliffe couldn’t have been blamed for taking a prolonged break from building a business.
For many people, an operation to remove a brain tumour, would have been a signal to rein in plans for their company.
However, just months after undergoing major surgery, Richard’s not only back in business but has a clear plan to grow Order Employment Services Ltd.
The determined Stoke-on-Trent business owner has a strategy in place to expand to a 10-strong team of local experts, offering services to SMEs across the Midlands and North West England.
“Prior to my medical scare, I was content with running my micro-business, with the support of two trusted associates,” said Richard of Baddeley Green.
“But something, maybe a realisation of my own mortality and the fragility of life, has made me come back with renewed business energy.
“I had to take six months off to recover and it was an opportunity to take stock. It made me recognise that I owe it to myself and my family to use my expertise to achieve in business and to recognise I can make a significant impact in terms of helping companies.”
Richard founded Order Employment Services in 2020 on the back of over a decade of experience in HR and people management.
He said: “I understand that how the way you, as an employer, look after your people has an impact on your bottom line. Managing your team is your greatest responsibility and I ensure managers and business owners feel they are being fully supported.”
To support his newfound passion for business development, Richard a Staffordshire University Law graduate, is now going back to university to study the Peter Coates MSc in Entrepreneurship at Staffordshire University.
