A group of 14 employees and family from a tile manufacturer are taking to the sky to support the company’s fundraising pledge.
Russell Roof Tiles, headquartered in Burton-upon-Trent, wants to raise £40,000 this year for its Give4Good charity initiative, which supports several good causes.
They hope to raise £10,000 towards the target by taking part in a skydiving challenge.
The event was originally set to take place in August but severe weather hampered their plan with just Coral Hayward, wife of Managing Director Andrew Hayward, able to complete the 10,000 ft tandem skydive.
Other employees will be doing theirs over the next few weeks, with the final group set to complete on 29 September.
Coral, who has taken on equally inspiring challenges in previous years, said: “For me, it is never about the challenge, it’s about making a difference. I simply want to raise awareness and help charities that support people in need. The team at Russell Roof Tiles do an exceptional job of getting involved and fundraising. From the skydive alone, we’ve managed to collectively raise £10,000.”
Andrew said: “Coral is a shining example of what can be achieved when you put your mind to it, and I am really proud of her commitment which is a real testament to her selflessness and compassion.”
Give4Good is part of the pitched roof tile manufacturer’s Neighbourhood and Community Investment Programme, which helps good causes including Shropshire and Staffordshire Blood Bikes, Burton MIND, YMCA Burton, The Young Ones Burton and Burton Soup Kitchen.
The firm, which Daily Focus recently reported is about to embark on a £18.5 million expansion project, has a number of events planned to support Give4Good and recently staged a family fun day at its Nicolson Way site, raising £5,800.
Future fundraisers include their annual golf day and Big Quiz event which will be held at the Pirelli Stadium in November.
