A Stoke-on-Trent shopping centre has announced a new pop-up shop will open next month as part of an initiative to support local families.
Longton Exchange Shopping Centre is asking for donations of gently-used winter clothing and school uniform which will help to establish a pop-up shop providing items free of charge to families in need.
The initiative follows a similar one held in the summer, called The Little Longton Uniform Exchange, which supported over 500 families and provided them with free school uniform before the start of the new term.
The shop in the former Shoezone store will be open from Monday 30 October until Friday 3 November.
Donations are being accepted now with Kizzy B’s Boutique and the centre’s management office, located opposite Boots, acting as drop-off points.
Items will be free; however visitors are asked to consider making a donation to the centre’s charity of the year, Stoke Air Ambulance.
Centre Manager Chris Ward, pictured above, said: “The community is at the heart of everything we do here at Longton Exchange.
“Being able to provide our shoppers with free clothing for the winter is something I am deeply passionate about.”
To further support those in need, a competition will run in-store, offering £50 vouchers for spending at Steve’s Butchers and an additional £50 for spending at MAW Fruit and Veg.
Customers must scan a QR code on a poster in the shop and leave their contact details to be in with a chance of winning.
