£250,000 resurfacing and repairs underway to improve well-used highway and roundabout in Uttoxeter

1 min read

A £250,000 resurfacing and improvements scheme starts today on a busy road and roundabout in Uttoxeter.

Highways teams begin their work today on the A518 Bamford Bridge and Bridge Street roundabout.

Over the next three weeks they will carry out resurfacing and repairs together with improvements to drainage systems.

Temporary lane closures are in place during the first week, during weekday daytimes.

From 6 to 17 November, Town Meadows Way, Bridge Street roundabout and Bamford Bridge will be closed to through traffic for resurfacing works overnight during weekdays.

The scheme draws on the Department for Transport’s pothole funding and is in addition to a £30 million investment by Staffordshire County Council in its roads over the next two years.

David Williams, Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport at the Council, said: “This is a well-used section of road and busy roundabout in Uttoxeter and it’s important to keep them well maintained and in good condition.

“We know that good roads are important for residents, businesses and of course the economy, which is why we’re investing £30 million over the next two years.

“Crews will be doing their best to keep disruption to a minimum and will be carrying out some of the resurfacing at night to help reduce any inconvenience. I’d like to thank people in advance for their patience while the work is carried out.”

Access to properties and businesses during the works will be maintained where possible.  Further information on the works including diversions can be found on the Staffordshire County Council’s Website.
