A Lichfield-based environmental services firm has been given an accolade at the National Energy Efficiency Awards.

Legionella & Fire Safe Services received a Special Commendation in the Renewable Heat Project of the Year category.

The award recognises its outstanding efforts working with Birmingham City Council, Equans UK & Ireland and Mixergy Ltd in pioneering groundbreaking energy-efficient projects.

In an initiative for the council, they carried out a retrofit of the award-winning Mixenergy smart hot water cylinder for 126 residents in East Birmingham.

Householders can heat between 10 and 100 per cent of the volume of their Mixenergy tanks, saving energy and money by using smart schedules.

The commendation recognises the commitment of all parties involved to work towards a more sustainable future.

“We are incredibly honoured to have received a Special Commendation at the National Energy Efficiency Awards,” said Kym Morris, Business Manager for Legionella & Fire Safe Services.

“Our collaboration with Birmingham City Council, Equans UK & Ireland  and Mixergy Ltd has not only empowered the residents of Birmingham to save significantly on their energy bills but has also earned us the esteemed Social Housing Expert Installers status.”

Legionella & Fire Safe Services is a leading provider of water hygiene compliance, fire safety and soil and vent pipe replacement works in social housing high rise blocks.

Its energy division, which was launched last year, has a strong focus on innovation and sustainability.
