The Stoke Gingerbread Centre is sending out a ginger-themed baking challenge as part of its latest fund-raising drive.
With a nod to the Great British Bake Off which is currently running on Channel 4, the Centre is asking local organisations to set themselves a baking task centred around the specific ingredient.
Any money raised would go towards the work of the charity which supports families without a home in Stoke-on-Trent and the surrounding area.
The challenge set for local schools, businesses and groups is to host fund-raising ginger-themed bake sales at Halloween.
Fundraiser at the Stoke Gingerbread Centre Chris Belyavin said: “Everybody loves cake! Our challenge is sent out to people who love baking.
“They don’t need to be a Paul Hollywood or a Prue Leith, but how creative can they be in coming up with some really imaginative, ginger-themed goodies to excite the taste buds of their friends, colleagues or fellow pupils?”
The charity is offering to supply the recipe for gingerbread biscuits if bakers need it.
Participants are asked to contact [email protected].
Demand on the resources at The Stoke Gingerbread Centre is currently extremely high.
The charity runs Rothesay Court which provides supported accommodation for up to 22 homeless families – single dads, single mums, pregnant women and couples with children.
Chris added: “Support for the Halloween fund-raiser would be very much appreciated and people would be supporting a local charity which gives hope and opportunity to local families without a home.”
