Sports enthusiasts and visitors to The Trentham Estate are in for a treat with the opening of a new café bar.
As previously reported by Daily Focus, specialist store Pau Run and Ride has taken over an empty unit next to its shop in the retail village and will be launching Pau Café.
The opening date has now been revealed – with guests being welcomed from Saturday, 11 November.
The launch will be marked with a visit from retired professional road cyclist Russell Downing, who has been brought in as a guest speaker for that evening.
There will also be celebrations held on the day to mark Pau Run and Ride becoming the regional distributor for the high-end road racing bike brand Pinarello.
A 30-mile bike ride through the Staffordshire countryside will start and finish at the shop, with complimentary pastries at the end.
Pau’s owner and Managing Director Paul Ball said: “I’m really excited about the opening of the café bar – it is something we have been working on for some time.
“We’re aiming to provide real quality food and drink – including proper coffee – and the launch day should be great with all the things we have going on.”
The finishing touches are currently being done on the café bar, which is in a unit last occupied by a wedding photographer.
Once open, the café bar will serve favourites such as full English breakfasts, burgers and flat bread pizzas as well as healthier options including smashed avocado and salads.
It will offer sit-down service, have space for 40 to 50 guests and will be open from 10am until 8pm, although it could open earlier on Saturdays.
Paul, who has previous experience in the pub industry, is also event director at Trentham’s parkrun, a community 5km event held in the gardens at 9am each Saturday morning.
