A new Greek restaurant has begun welcoming customers in Stoke-on-Trent – with an official opening celebration set to follow on Saturday (14 October).
Daily Focus reported in July that former nurse Ramona Somatseskou was set to open her second restaurant in less than a year following the success of La Greco, in Cobridge, Stoke-on-Trent.
The finishing touches have now been put to Trinity Kebab, on Trinity Street, in Hanley, and a ‘test week’ began at the weekend before the official opening day takes place on Saturday.
Ramona, from Kozani in northern Greece, prides herself on using the best supplies from her home country and La Greco has won several awards.
She said: “It is really exciting to expand La Greco with a new location and we’re looking forward to treating everyone to a little bit of everything with a buffet on Saturday.
“A lot of hard work has been put into the restaurant and I’d like to thank all the staff, particularly my son Kyriakos who works with us.
“We hope this will lead us to opening another restaurant next year featuring live music and weddings.”
The restaurant will be open from 7am for coffees and Greek pies, cakes and cookies with traditional Greek food such as moussaka, stifado and kleftiko on offer from 12pm and Gyros and grilled food from 4pm until closing at 2am.
The venture has created around six jobs, including employing Ramona’s son Kyriakos, and has space for 20 diners inside.
The opening day will feature a free buffet from 12pm, featuring musaka, pies, cakes, cookies and tzatziki.
Ramona, who runs the venues with husband Paul, will also be offering a Greek food catering service.
