A Staffordshire-based water retailer has received a best in the business honour at a regional awards event – as well as scooping an accolade for its environmental credentials.
Water Plus was not only named the Best Business Water Retailer but also picked up the Environmental Excellence Award at the Midlands Enterprise Awards.
It follows the company winning a UK Customer Satisfaction Award earlier this year and a Global Gold Award for Water Management in the Green World Awards 2023.
In November 2022, it also won Gold for water management, along with three other awards, in the Green Apple Environment Awards.
Water Plus, which has its main office in Stoke-on-Trent, is the country’s biggest business water retailer. It provides water and wastewater services to more than 710,000 customer supply points in England and Scotland and has staff working with organisations across the UK.
Water Plus Chief Executive Andy Hughes said: “The awards in 2023 recognise all our teams’ work, week in-week out, with businesses and public sector organisations, across sectors in England and Scotland – and it’s great to receive these.
“We’re continuing to help organisations and raise awareness around the opportunities and savings – from looking closer at water use during the year, to taking steps to cut water waste to limit risks to how businesses and other organisations operate.”
The Midlands Enterprise Awards wins include an Environmental Excellence Award. SME News, who organise the event, nominated Water Plus for an award after reading about its work with organisations and its employees – and how it is increasing water efficiency at business sites.
Water Plus was the only business water retailer to be finalists in three categories in the Water Industry Awards 2023 including Water Retailer of the Year, Water Efficiency Project of the Year and Customer Initiative of the Year.
The company became Green World Ambassadors in 2022 and continued this in 2023 to encourage more action by organisations to reduce impacts on the environment.
