Stone’s Drac Group has acquired a family-run trucking company.

The acquisition of specialist contract haulier S T Douglas Transport, based in Stafford, will allow Drac Distribution to grow its trucking capabilities both locally and nationally.

It comes following the purchase of Caledonian Logistics and its various locations in Scotland in October last year.

Alex Hayes, Group CEO, said: “I am pleased to add S T Douglas into Drac Group.

“I believe this will strengthen our commitment to delivering unparalleled value and service to our clients and stakeholders.”

All S T Douglas staff have been kept on and expansion plans are in place for the future.

Drac Group was created in 2009, with Drac Distribution formed in 2021. It is now based on Stone Business Park where it has a 32,000 sq ft warehouse.

S T Douglas, which takes its name from founder Sydney Thomas Douglas, has operated in the industry for over 68 years after starting as a single owner-driver removals firm. It now specialises in nationwide container shipping.
