A new leader has been announced for Tamworth Borough Council.
Councillor Thomas Jay is taking up the position following the resignation of Councillor Paul Turner last month.
Councillor Jay said: “It is an honour to lead the council and head up positive changes for our town.
“I understand the challenges this role brings, and the effort required and I’m more than ready for that.”
The Tory councillor has announced a coalition arrangement between the Conservatives and the Independent Futures group, with changes to the existing cabinet to come.
However, it has already been confirmed that Councillor Jeremy Oates will be joining the cabinet as portfolio holder for Future High Street Fund Delivery.
Councillor Jay added: “As a third generation Tammy brought up in Glascote Heath, it’s an honour to do my little bit to shape the future of Tamworth.
“As leader I’ll work to bring people together, tap into existing talent and experience and focus on delivery for Tamworth and it’s residents.”
