Tamworth foundry specialist takes innovation title at industry awards

1 min read

A Tamworth-based supplier of foundry consumables and solutions has picked up one of the major titles at the UK Cast Metals Industry Awards.

Foseco is celebrating securing the Innovation of the Year accolade, impressing judges with the way it has developed a novel automated metal treatment and cleaning process for steel melts.

ROTOCLENE uses inert gases through a pumping rotor to effectively remove inclusions. This improves the cleanliness of the steel and ensures better castings properties.

The company’s WASCO water-soluble core process for aluminium high-pressure die casting was highly commended in the same category.

The innovation award was presented at the Best of British Casting Awards Dinner, attended by almost 200 people.

“The innovation and resilience of the foundry industry never ceases to amaze me, and this year’s award winners typify exactly what makes the UK great,” explained Dr Pam Murrell, Chief Executive of the Cast Metals Federation

“We had businesses investing, we had companies diversifying and we had firms using new technologies to help designers bring products to market that will positively change lives for hundreds of children.”
