A PhD researcher from Staffordshire University has been recognised as a ‘Next Generation Leader’ in the finance industry.
The Women in Finance UK Summit and Awards 2023, presented by DiversityQ, celebrates women, allies, and organisations for their outstanding contributions to the finance industry.
Sheetal Dash, who is in the second stage of a part-time PhD in Computer Science, won the prize in the category ‘Next Generation Leader of the Year’ at the ceremony.
Sheetal was nominated for the award for her “dedication to continual learning” and has been described as being “highly capable and accomplished, constantly innovating and leading through multiple projects”.
Sheetal said: “I am so grateful for having received this award – I am not just receiving an award, I am accepting a responsibility. A responsibility to inspire, mentor, and pave the way for the next generation of leaders. This acknowledgment fuels my determination to contribute further, bridge gaps, and amplify the voices of young graduates whose narratives often go unheard.”
Sheetal is completing her PhD alongside her role working in Data Strategy at J.P. Morgan’s International Private Bank. Her doctoral research explores real-time cyber threat analysis using artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Sheetal says she is passionate about promoting careers in technology and data to others, empowering women to study STEM subjects and have the confidence to follow whatever path they desire just as she has.
She added: “This award is not just mine; it belongs to anyone who aspires to shatter glass ceilings and redefine the landscape in technology.
“I take equal pride in being able to support our young graduates and this award is a promise that, together, we can make a difference.”
