A city sandwich shop has expanded its services after moving into bigger premises.
Lichfield’s Lunch at Loafers, which opened in Bore Street four years ago, has moved into a new home a few doors down.
Owner Carl Luke, who held a special event to mark the opening this week, said the move was made possible thanks to support from Lichfield District Council.
Both the business’s new and old units are owned by the local authority and the council refurbished the new building before Carl moved in and installed the commercial kitchen, decorated the place and creates both upstairs and downstairs dining areas.
Carl said: “Lunch at Loafers has come a long way since 2019. As a family-run business we are really excited about the new opportunities to come.
“We would like to thank Lichfield District Council, who have worked alongside us and supported us through the process.
“We have managed to expand our takeaway service and open as a bistro offering a relaxed, beautiful seating area and delicious food in an amazing venue.”
Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet Member for High Streets and Visitor Economy, Janice Silvester-Hall, said: “It is great to see a council-owned property in a prime city centre location being put to good use accommodating a thriving and popular Lichfield business.
“The bigger premises enable Lunch at Loafers to offer more to its customers and we wish Carl and his team every success.”
Helen McKenzie, Project Manager at Lichfield District Council’s trading company Lichfield West Midlands Trading Services, said: “It’s been an absolute pleasure seeing this project through from conception to completion. I am delighted we have been able to assist an established Lichfield business in finding a new home.”
