Helping veterans find employment is one of the aims of an event being organised by the Staffordshire Veterans Support Network (SVSN).
The initiative, to be held at the Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce headquarters in Festival Park, Stoke-on-Trent, will provide essential support and guidance to veterans, reservists and their families as they transition to civilian life.
The afternoon session is being hosted on 4 April by Stoke-on-Trent-based security and risk management company Black Onyx Concepts and Money and Me Solicitors who have formed a partnership to support the veteran community.
The inaugural event will feature a range of activities tailored to meet the unique needs of veterans:
- Employment opportunities with local businesses that actively support the veteran community
- Training opportunities in security and risk management provided by veteran instructors
- Professional legal support and guidance for veterans seeking compensation for various claims, including mis-sold military pensions and military hearing injuries
- Access to charitable organisations dedicated to raising awareness and providing essential support to veterans, such as the Royal Marines Association, Walk Talk Action, and Veterans into Logistics charity.
A number of local businesses and organisations have pledged their support for the event, including Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce, Armed Forces Covenant, Horizons Coaching, Stoke-on-Trent City Council and Hilary Meredith Solicitors.
Veterans, reservists, and their families are encouraged to attend between 1pm and 4pm. Admission is free, and attendees can register via the website.
