The owner of one of North Staffordshire’s most popular and talked about restaurants is preparing to open a new venue – this time with an Italian theme.

Mariana Anastasiou opened Anasma Greek Eatery at The Trentham Estate, in Stoke-on-Trent, a year ago today, which she has described as being a “fantastic success.”

She is celebrating the bakery-come-taverna’s first birthday by announcing her next venture – Anasma Italian Cuisine, which will also be based within the shopping village at The Trentham Estate.

Set to open in early-May, the restaurant will serve a mixture of pasta dishes, pizzas made from scratch and other Italian delights.

It will be situated in the unit once occupied by David’s Brasserie and, more recently, Spanish tapas restaurant Can Do Cocina, which closed in November.

Mariana said: “Italian cuisine is very similar to Greek food and we are looking forward to offering Italian dishes which are full of flavour and well-presented.”

Several Italian options – such as spaghetti carbonara and various pizzas – temporarily added to the menu at Anasma Greek Eatery in recent months received positive feedback.

They were described by the restaurant as a “unique dining experience where quality ingredients meet time-honoured recipes, creating a symphony of flavours that will transport you straight to the heart of Italy.”

Mariana added: “We are lucky that our head chef at the Greek Eatery has 25 years’ experience of working in fantastic Italian restaurants and will be moving across to work at the new one.

“We also have an Italian chef from Napoli joining us in the kitchen.”

The new restaurant, which will seat approximately 60 people inside and a similar number outside, is creating at least 12 jobs. Recruitment is currently taking place for pot washers, kitchen assistants and front-of-house staff.

Mariana and husband Costas also run Newcastle-under-Lyme’s Anasma Greek Bakery and now employ around 30 people across their two current venues.

She said: “The bakery was our first project but we have found one venue keeps leading to another.

“We love good food and are keen to share it with others, but it is not just about us anymore.

“We are lucky to have a very strong team who have the same work ethics as us and love what they do. We know we can count on them.”

Anasma Italian Cuisine will also offer a breakfast menu.

An opening date is expected to be announced soon.

Anyone interested in working there should email [email protected].
