A business consultancy firm’s fundraising efforts have seen more than £24,000 donated to support the creation of a pioneering new Breast Cancer Centre – and a new drive has been launched for 2024.
The team at Strategi Solutions, based in Newcastle-under-Lyme, set up the Big Girl Pants fundraiser and organised events such as fitness challenges and a charity ball to help the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM) open a new Breast Care Centre at County Hospital in Stafford.
Their fundraising efforts came about after three close relatives of the Strategi team received a breast cancer diagnosis between October 2022 and February 2023, all of whom were treated at UHNM Breast Care Centres.
As reported by Daily Focus in November, they managed to hit their £20,000 target for 2023 two months early and £24,010 has now been donated to the UHNM Charity.
Local businesses are being encouraged to get involved with the 2024 Big Girl Pants fundraising drive with tickets for the next charity ball – taking place on Friday, 4 October – already going on sale.
Wendy Dean, CEO of Strategi Solutions, said: “Our first year of fundraising for Big Girl Pants was a huge success and we are incredibly proud of the momentous amount raised for this very worthy cause. The work undertaken by the UHNM Charity and the breast care teams is incredibly important and valued by many families across the region, and we’re keen to continue offering as much support as we can.
“When Sue Fisher (Wife of Rob Fisher, Managing Director at Strategi Solutions) attended her latest appointment with the Breast Care Team, they pointed her in the direction of the Big Girl Pants website for information and support, and it is both positive and rewarding the learn that our endeavours are being recognised. It was also an honour to meet with Sue’s consultant Sadaf Jafferbhoy, who attended the recent cheque presentation.”
The charity ball will be held at DoubleTree by Hilton on Festival Park, Stoke-on-Trent, and will feature entertainment from the 9-piece house music band and DJ, The Manytones, as well as a three-course meal and a series of raffles and auctions.
