Armed forces veterans eligible for compensation for unsuitable pension advice have been signing up for legal advice following a support network event.
An initiative organised by the Staffordshire Veterans Support Network has led to an upsurge in interest in the services of Money and Me Solicitors.
The firm, based in Newcastle-under-Lyme and Warrington, has to date recovered more than £70 million in compensation for people mis-advised to transfer out of their company pension schemes including the Armed Forces Pension Scheme.
The solicitors have joined forces with security and risk management company Black Onyx Concepts to support the veteran community.
They jointly hosted the support network event at Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce headquarters.
As well as taking advantage of networking opportunities, veterans at the session were keen to seek advice from Money and Me.
The firm has so far helped more than 2,000 families, with a success record of above 95 per cent in claims to the Financial Services Compensation Scheme and over 80 per cent for the Financial Ombudsman Service.
Andrew Purcell, Senior Financial Services Analyst and Underwriting Team Lead who serves as the Armed Forces Champion, was presented with the Armed Forces Covenant Bronze award for commitment and support to the Armed Forces Veterans, Reservists and Cadets.
He said: “The inaugural support event went fantastically well with all supporting businesses present and successful networking taking place with the veterans.
“Both the support network and the veterans approached Money and Me Solicitors for our support and advice going forward.”
