Energy efficiency experts Residential Energy Services (RES) have launched a new programme aimed at employees in the workplace.

The advice initiative will assist people in the manufacturing, production and retail sectors in saving energy and reducing waste both at work and at home.

Information about how individual employees can make their home more energy efficient will help with enhancing their personal wellbeing.

Businesses are being invited to sign up to the Workplace Energy Advice programme which is sponsored by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero and the Midlands Net Zero Hub.

It is designed to provide flexible employee access to energy support, to help improve energy use both at work and at home.

The fully-funded initiative provides free, flexible access to energy advice in organisations where a large workforce may struggle to access community advice due to unsociable shift patterns, or limited access to technology and resources.

The advice service is also tailored to individual businesses and employee work patterns, eliminating the cost of removing employees from the shop floor.

“Drop-in” workshops and consultations, or pop-up services in communal areas are designed to blend seamlessly with the working day.

Along with guidance on energy-saving and waste reduction, an overview of energy saving measures such as insulation and air source heat pumps is provided.

Follow-up one-to-one sessions cover funding eligibility and Energy Performance Certificates.

“This unique service from RES empowers employers to provide tangible guidance and support to employees to drive forward their commitment to sustainability,” said Sarah Parry, Managing Director, Residential Energy Services.

Since 2014 RES, based at the Smart Innovation Hub on the Keele University campus, has specialised in educating householders on energy saving measures.
