Leek Building Society has been selected as a finalist for the Responsible Business category at the 2024 Staffordshire Chambers Business Awards.

This new category, sponsored by Rydale Roofing, highlights businesses that demonstrate outstanding commitment to ethical practices, community involvement and sustainability.

As a mutual society, Leek Building Society prioritise the needs of their members, offering competitive rates and participating in the government’s voluntary Mortgage Charter to support those facing financial difficulties.

They have been recognised for their exceptional approach to staff health and wellbeing, receiving accreditations from the Good Business Charter and Living Wage Foundation. They have also launched a workplace savings scheme, encouraging healthy financial habits.

Leek Building Society is deeply embedded in the local community through various partnerships and initiatives. They sponsor local sports teams, promote financial education, and provide significant charitable donations. In 2023, they supported local charities with £125,000 in donations and their staff participated in 180 volunteering days, nearly doubling the previous year’s total.

The winner of the award will be announced at the highly-anticipated Gala Awards evening, taking place on Thursday, 4 July at the Doubletree by Hilton, Festival Park.
