Newcastle-under-Lyme Markets has teamed up with The Makers Market artisan market company to host the event.

The Makers Market already runs events at more than 20 venues and towns across the North West as well as in Uttoxeter and at The Trentham Estate.

Victoria Crane, Event Manager for The Makers Market, said: “We can’t wait to launch the new Makers Market in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

“We pride ourselves on delivering delightful, specialist events with many award-winning local producers of unique and inspiring goods.

“It’s a superb opportunity to find out about the origins of your food, meet the maker and fill those shopping bags while indulging in some good conversations with our fantastic traders.”

Newcastle-under-Lyme’s historic town centre market is home to general, antique and a range of event markets.

It is to benefit from a £390,000 investment including refurbished stalls, an entertainment area and rent-free stalls for traders on Mondays thanks to Future High Street Funding.

Councillor Stephen Sweeney, Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Finance, Town Centres and Growth, said: “I’m delighted that Newcastle-under-Lyme Markets is adding to its growing events programme with a second artisan market, this time run by The Makers Market who have an excellent reputation for the quality of their events.

“Artisan markets provide a unique shopping experience and are really popular with people of all ages, making for a fantastic atmosphere in the town centre on even more days. An added bonus is that parking on the Council’s car parks is free every Sunday throughout the year.

“We’re putting a great deal of effort into making our historic market more vibrant and exciting and it’s events like this, and others such as the Castle Artisan Market, record fair and vegan festival, which bring it to life. I hope residents and visitors come out to show their support.”

The new market, on High Street, will run from 11am until 4pm.

  • The Stones is also home to Castle Artisan Market which takes place on the third Sunday of each month.
  • Daily Focus also recently reported about a new artisan hall opening at Amerton Farm, near Stafford. Read that story here.
