Natalie Hewitt, practice director of Hewitt&Carr Architects, has been named as a finalist in the Entrepreneur of the Year category at the Staffordshire Chambers Business Awards. This category is proudly sponsored by Staffordshire University.
As the driving force behind Hewitt&Carr Architects, Hewitt&Carr Developments, and Hewitt&Carr Services, Natalie has proven herself as a formidable entrepreneur.
Her leadership and innovative approach have not only propelled her businesses to new heights but have also significantly contributed to the local business community in the Staffordshire Moorlands.
Natalie’s entrepreneurial journey began in 2011 after she was made redundant. Taking a bold step, she co-founded Hewitt&Carr Architects (HCA) with her friend and business partner, Mark Carr. By 2014, HCA had reached full capacity in its original studio, prompting Natalie to form Hewitt&Carr Developments to address the need for more space.
Under Natalie’s leadership, Hewitt&Carr Developments has undertaken significant projects, including the purchase and renovation of a Grade II listed former building society on Cheadle High Street. This transformation provided a new headquarters for HCA, leading to a 44% increase in turnover and expanding the team to 11 full-time staff.
In 2018, Natalie spearheaded the renovation of another Grade II listed building, transforming a former care home into DaisyBank House Business Centre. This project created 14 business units and secured a £100,000 grant from the Rural Enterprise Programme. DaisyBank House now serves as a crucial hub for SMEs and startups in the area, offering flexible leases and fostering local business growth.
The winner of the award will be announced at the highly-anticipated Gala Awards evening, taking place on Thursday, 4 July at the Doubletree by Hilton, Festival Park.
