A couple who have become social media sensations are calling on businesses to come forward with fresh, fun and innovative ideas to help them showcase the best Stoke-on-Trent and the surrounding area has to offer.
Kim Field and Steven Levitt set up welovestoke in February 2022 and now have nearly 10,000 followers on their Instagram and Facebook accounts.
Their aim is to celebrate the kind of events, entertainment, attractions and venues that can be found on the area’s doorstep by posting short videos, photos and commentaries of the experiences they’ve had.
Over the last two years they have tried everything from wrestling and visiting local zoos to sampling the latest dining experiences, gaming zones and live entertainment.
Now Steven – who is originally from Milton Keynes – and Kim, who was brought up in Brighton and initially came to live with her nan in North Staffordshire, want to expand their reach to include attractions within a short distance of the Potteries.
And they need the help of local organisations to point them in the direction of their next set of adventures so they can continue to share the positivity.
Kim, who is a digital copywriter, said: “We are both from out of the area but moved to Stoke, met one another and fell in love. But at the same time we fell in love with Stoke-on-Trent and want to share that with everyone.
“We were actually on a spa trip to Moddershall Oaks, got talking about how we could make a difference and came up with the idea.
“There is so much to do on the doorstep – we never take it for granted and love helping people learn about new experiences and things they can do.
“We didn’t expect it to take off like it did, but I think that just shows that if you put positivity in the world, people will respond.”
Steven, who works for Festival Park-based Overclockers UK, said: “What we are looking to do now is to also feature things that are happening a bit further afield – around 30 minutes’ drive – which are easily accessible from Stoke and add to the area’s appeal.
“As part of this expansion we are hoping businesses will reach out with ideas of things we can experience. We will aim to cover as many things as we can around our working lives. It’s been an incredible journey – and we absolutely love it.”
Another new development has seen the pair launch a welovestoke website. The aim is to provide a community driven hub of events that anyone can add to.
Kim added: “The reason we have done this is there are so many places, events and clubs in Stoke – too many for us both to cover. So we have created a platform that is community driven and can help us all find the hidden gems.”
