Local businesses, organisations and many of Leek Building Society’s key contacts and suppliers helped to raise over £6,000 for good causes at a charity golf day.
The award-winning building society holds the fundraiser each year in aid of its Charitable Foundation which is dedicated to making a positive impact to the lives of vulnerable and disadvantaged people locally.
The amount raised at this year’s event, held at Westwood Golf Club, in Leek, is more than double that from last year and will be used to provide grants to local charities and community groups across Staffordshire, Cheshire, Shropshire and Derbyshire.
The tournament was won by Brian Mellor Financial Services, which is based in the town. Other local organisations with teams on the day included PHD Mail from Burton-upon-Trent, Cheddleton-based Lux Electrical Services, Hanley-based Mounsey Chartered Surveyors and the Staffordshire FA.
Rob Longmore, HR Director at Leek Building Society, said: “We’re overwhelmed by the support and generosity shown by our contacts and local businesses that have helped us to raise such a tremendous amount for our Charitable Foundation.
“I’d also like to offer our thanks to the team at Westwood Golf Club for the use of their excellent facilities and helping us to host such an enjoyable day.”
Derek Parker, from the golf club, added: “Westwood Golf Club were honoured to host the Leek Building Society Golf Day where the standard of golf from the varied teams was very high.
“The team from Leek Building Society made everyone most welcome and the feedback on the course was very positive.”
